How do I run service from the floor plan?
Seat guests, take walk-ins, block tables and place large parties straight from the live floor plan.
The Floor plan view shows your room live — every table coloured by what's happening at it right now. Click any table to act on it.
Reading the colours
The legend explains each state — Available, Upcoming (Next 60 mins), Late, Arrived, Seated, Cleared, No-show, Cancelled, Waitlist (plus promoted and arrived variants), Blocked and Event — and only lists the states actually present on today's plan, so a quiet day shows a shorter key. Colours follow your choices in Settings → Display & layout. Filter buttons let you hide states, and you can filter by booking source (Online, Walk-ins, Staff-created, Self-service), customer attributes (VIP, Birthday, Has dietary — which matches a dietary note on the booking itself or the customer's profile, Repeat customer, First-time), your custom customer tags, booking attributes (Has notes, Has allergies, Special occasion, Payment owed, Has payment (paid)) or a minimum party size.
Acting on a table
Click a table to open its menu:
- Edit booking — opens the current booking (occupied tables).
- Add booking / New walk-in — start a booking or walk-in on that table (free tables).
- Temporary Block — a time-boxed block: set a start, end and optional reason (e.g. "Broken leg, VIP"); it expires by itself when the end time passes.
- Hard Block — blocks the table indefinitely until you click Unblock Table.
Blocked tables can't take bookings, walk-ins or waitlist promotions while the block is active.
Seating a large party across several tables
When an online booking is too big for one table and needs manual placement, the large-party alert offers Assign tables. That switches the floor plan into selection mode:
- Tap each table you want to combine — an amber banner tracks "Selected: N tables — Combined capacity: X/Y".
- Once the combined capacity covers the party, click Confirm Assignment (or Cancel to abandon).
Editing the layout
Click Edit Layout to open the same floor-plan editor as Settings → Tables & layout — moving, adding and resizing tables. This needs the floor-plan edit permission, so not all staff see the button.
