How do I list a match night?
Make any event a match night — the sport, the teams, the kick-off and the channel as words — put it on your TVs with one tick, and confirm once a year that your venue has the right agreement to show the matches you list.
A match night is an ordinary event with a match attached — so it does everything an event does: book a table for the match (free), sell tickets, or just list it on your What's on page and TVs. Match nights come with events, on Pro and Complete or with the Tickets product.
Adding a match
On the Events page, start a new event (or open one), and on the first step switch on This is a match night. Then fill in:
- Sport — football, rugby, cricket, darts, boxing, motor racing, golf and more, or Another sport.
- Home side and Away side — for a race, a golf day or a fight night there's one name instead (e.g. "British Grand Prix"), and the second box is optional.
- Kick-off — when you pick it, the start and end times fill in for you (30 minutes before to 2 hours 15 after); a time you've changed yourself is kept. A kick-off after midnight belongs to the night before, like the rest of your day, which runs 5am to 5am.
- Competition and Channel (both optional) — e.g. "Six Nations" and "Sky Sports Main Event".
Team names and the channel always show as words. ResoFlow never shows club badges, competition logos or channel logos — those belong to the clubs and broadcasters — and there are no live scores: the match is on your screen.
Guests see the match, the kick-off and the channel on the event's page, on your What's on page, on your What's on TV screen, and in the link preview when the event is shared.
Your agreement to show matches
The first time you publish a match night — and again a year later — the Publish step asks you to confirm that your venue has a commercial agreement to show the matches you list (for example Sky Sports or TNT Sports for business). ResoFlow only lists your nights; showing a broadcast in a pub or restaurant needs the broadcaster's business subscription, and that is the venue's responsibility. We record who confirmed and when — you can see it under Settings → Events → Match nights.
Saturday 3pm football
On most Saturdays in the football season, no football is shown live on UK television between 14:45 and 17:15. That is a broadcasting rule (UEFA's Article 48, applied by the FA, the Scottish FA and the Irish FA), and showing those games through a foreign decoder or stream breaks the broadcasters' copyright. It covers every competition — English and Scottish football, foreign leagues and women's football alike.
A match lasts about two hours, so a football match night kicking off on one of those Saturdays from 13:00 to 17:14 would be live during that time. It can be saved as a draft but never published: the builder marks it "Not shown live in the UK" and the Publish step won't let it go live, whatever the competition. A kick-off from 12:31 to 12:59 may still be playing at 14:45, so the builder asks you to check it's on a UK channel — you can still publish it. Kick-offs at 12:30 and 17:30 are fine. Other sports aren't affected.
The rule only applies during the football season, and not on the Saturdays UEFA's published list leaves out for each football association. ResoFlow follows the list for your venue's nation — Scotland's or Northern Ireland's if your postcode is there, England's for the rest of the UK (Wales included). If your venue's address has no postcode, or its postcode covers places both sides of the Scotland–England border, ResoFlow uses the strictest list: a Saturday is left open only when every association leaves it out. Add your postcode to your venue's address to use your own nation's list.
Senior national-team matches can be shown in that time when they're on UEFA's published list of exempt matches. A match you type in yourself is never treated as exempt, so a national-team game kicking off on one of those Saturdays from 13:00 to 17:14 can be saved as a draft but can't be published.
Putting the match on your TVs
Switch on Show on our TVs and, once the match night is published, your wall screens' Your adverts show the match with a QR code to its event page — and take it off by themselves when the match ends. Turning the switch off, taking the event off sale, cancelling it or removing all events removes it straight away. Up to 10 matches can be on your TVs at once — when ten are already on, save the eleventh again once one of them ends. A match more than 120 days away isn't put on (and moving a shown match that far away takes it off): save it again nearer the time. Match adverts don't count towards your own adverts.
Your match-night settings
Settings → Events → Match nights shows when your agreement to show matches was last confirmed, and by whom, and reminds you how to add a match: Events → New event → This is a match night — it works for every sport.
