Devices and browsers that work with ResoFlow
Which browsers ResoFlow works on, how to check and update yours, and what to do when a screen's own browser is too old.
ResoFlow runs in the web browser on a phone, tablet, computer or TV. It needs an up-to-date browser:
- Chrome or Edge 111 or later
- Samsung Internet 22 or later
- Safari 16.4 or later (iPhone and iPad: iOS 16.4 or later)
- Firefox 128 or later
As a rough guide, that is Chrome, Edge and Safari from spring 2023 onwards, Samsung Internet from summer 2023 and Firefox from July 2024 — but the version number is the reliable test. Other browsers built on the same engines, such as Opera, Brave and Vivaldi, work too when they are kept up to date. Internet Explorer can't run ResoFlow.
On an iPhone or iPad every browser — Safari, Chrome, Firefox or Edge — uses Apple's own engine, so what matters there is the iOS (or iPadOS) version: 16.4 or later.
If a page says "Please update your browser"
ResoFlow checks the browser when a page opens and says so when it is older than the list above:
- The whole screen shows the message when the browser is too old to display ResoFlow at all.
- A small bar along the top shows the same words when the browser mostly works but misses some colours and effects. Close hides it until the page is opened again; it doesn't store anything on the device. On a wall screen — a TV showing a display link, a signed-in board or the Orders screen's Wall layout — the bar goes by itself after a minute, as there may be no one to close it.
On a venue's booking page, menu, gift cards and its other pages for customers, the message says "Please update your browser to use this page" instead.
If a page shows as plain text with no colours or layout, your browser is too old: update it, or use another device.
How to check your browser's version
- Chrome — type chrome://version into the address bar; the version is the first line. Or open Chrome's menu (⋮), then Settings, then About Chrome.
- Edge — open the menu (…), then Settings, then About Microsoft Edge.
- Samsung Internet — open the menu (☰), then Settings, then About Samsung Internet.
- Safari on a Mac — the Safari menu, then About Safari.
- iPhone or iPad — Settings, then General, then About: the iOS (or iPadOS) version is listed there.
- Firefox — on a computer, the menu (☰), then Help, then About Firefox; on a phone, the menu, then Settings, then About Firefox.
How to update
Phones, tablets and computers usually update their browser by themselves, but it's worth checking:
- On a computer — the browser's own About page (above) checks for an update and offers to restart the browser. Safari on a Mac updates with macOS: System Settings, then General, then Software Update.
- On an Android phone or tablet — update the browser in the Google Play Store (Samsung Internet can also update from the Galaxy Store).
- On an iPhone or iPad — Safari updates with iOS: Settings, then General, then Software Update.
Some older devices can't run a new enough browser — for example an iPhone or iPad that can't update to iOS 16.4. If yours can't, use a different device for ResoFlow.
Screens supplied by another company
A screen that came with another company's system — an ordering system, a card machine, or a TV with its own built-in browser — often has a browser you can't update yourself. If ResoFlow shows there as plain text, or shows the update message:
- ask the company that supplied the screen to update its browser — on screens that run Android, that usually means Chrome or the Android System WebView, the browser built into other apps; or
- use a supported tablet or computer for ResoFlow instead.
