How do I use the help panel?

The help panel's four tabs, opening and closing it, the guides, follow-up questions and setting links under each answer, and Work it out with Rezo in the search.

Part of How can Rezo help, and what can't it do?. This part covers the help panel itself: its tabs, opening and closing it, watching a reply arrive, what's under each answer, and Rezo in the search.

The help panel — Ask Rezo, Guides, Messages and Suggestions

In your dashboard and the staff portal, help lives in one panel. Tap the pink Ask Rezo button in the top bar (a small pink square on smaller screens): Rezo jumps into the panel — an × holds his spot until he hops back — and it opens on Ask Rezo, down the right under the top bar with your page still in view (on a phone, from the bottom). On a wide screen — 1,440 pixels across or more, such as a large computer screen — your page moves over to make room, so the panel sits beside it and covers nothing: a booking's details and the Save bar stay in full view, the page still scrolls, you can click around the page with the panel open, and a settings page shows its sections in one column while the panel is there. On a narrower screen (an iPad held sideways, a smaller laptop) it sits over the right-hand side of the page. It has three tabs, and a fourth in your dashboard:

Opening and closing the help panel

Opening the panel closes a booking or other panel that's open over the page, so there's only ever one panel on top. (On a big screen, a booking shown beside the Bookings list stays where it is — on a wide screen your page makes room, so it sits beside the help panel; on a smaller one it sits under it.) If that booking has changes you haven't saved, you're asked about them first, and the help panel waits for your answer: Save changes saves the booking and closes it, and the help panel opens once the save has gone through; Discard changes closes the booking and the help panel opens; Keep editing keeps the booking open and the help panel stays closed. If the save doesn't go through, the booking stays open with your changes so you can put them right, and the help panel doesn't open — press the Rezo button again when you're ready. To close the help panel, press Close (the X at the top), press the Escape key, or, when it's sitting over your page, tap outside it (on a wide screen, where it sits beside your page, tapping the page leaves it open) — the Rezo button stays in the top bar and opens it again, with your conversation where you left it. To finish a conversation altogether, press End this conversation at the top of the chat and confirm. In your dashboard, Open in Help and support takes the conversation to the Help and support page.

Watching the reply arrive

Rezo's replies appear as they're written. Every part of a reply is checked against the same safety rules as the finished answer before it's shown, and if a finished reply fails a check it's withdrawn and replaced. Nothing is shown that the checks would have blocked.

Under each answer — the guides, what next, and the exact setting

The chat's header always says AI assistant under Rezo's name, so he only introduces himself in full the first time your venue talks to him; after that he gets straight to the answer.

Under an answer, From the guides shows up to three of the guides it came from, as small links so the answer stays in view: the first one shows, and the rest are folded away — tap more beside it to open them in place (Show fewer folds them again). Tap a guide and it opens in the Guides tab, right there in the panel (Back returns you to the guides for your page).

Under Rezo's latest answer the same short list also holds up to three follow-up questions taken from that guide's own sections — tap one to ask it. A button only appears for something you can do right now: That’s all, thanks ends the conversation, and Ask something else — a small link beside the thumbs — puts the cursor in the box for your next question. While your question is with the team, the button is Add this to my question for the team instead (see How do I report a problem or reach a person through Rezo?). (Rezo no longer ends every answer with "Is there anything else I can help with?".)

When Rezo links to one particular setting, the link opens the settings page at that setting: the page scrolls to it, opens it if it's folded away, and outlines it for three seconds. That includes the Rota settings, and on Team alerts and sounds, This app and your devices, Email templates and Order & Pay it opens the right section and outlines it. The Open button on one of Rezo's change cards does the same, and so does picking a setting in Search or do anything.

Rezo in the search — Work it out with Rezo

When nothing in Search or do anything offers to do what you typed (three words or more), you can press Work it out with Rezo. Rezo reads the words once and picks one of the screens your role can open, with what to fill in — a booking, a closed day, a message to a day's guests — and gives it back as a row marked Worked out by Rezo — check it before you press its button. The page opens filled in, and nothing changes until you press that page's own button. It's free (no Rezo credits), up to 500 times a month per venue on Free and Plus and 2,000 on Pro and Complete. Phone numbers and email addresses are taken out before Rezo sees the words, and ResoFlow doesn't keep them. See What can I type into the search?.
