Which automatic emails can I send with Gift cards, Loyalty, Tickets or Order & Pay?
The product automatic emails — order again and a first-order thank-you (Order & Pay), what's on next (Tickets) and we miss you for members (Loyalty) on the Automations tab, and the gift card balance reminder (a factual service email, on Customer notifications). Each is off until you turn it on.
A venue that sells gift cards, runs a loyalty scheme, sells tickets or takes orders has its own automatic emails, beside the welcome, win-back, birthday, thank-you and review request ones (see How do I send welcome and win-back emails?). The four marketing ones live on the Marketing page's Automations tab, each with its own switch and Set up and wording, and you only see the ones your products or plan can send. The reminder for card holders is different: it's a factual email about money someone holds, not marketing, so its switch is in Settings → Customer notifications → Gift cards. Every one is off until you turn it on.
The emails
- Order & Pay: Order again — a friendly nudge to a customer who has ordered from you before and hasn't for a while (you choose 2, 4, 6, 8 or 12 weeks; 4 to start). Sent once until they order again, and never twice in 90 days. Its button opens your order page when collection or delivery is on.
- Order & Pay: Thank you for your first order — the day after a customer's first-ever order (the 10am send at least six hours after it). Once per customer, ever.
- Tickets: What's on next — when you publish a new event, the customers who have bought tickets from you before hear about it, with a Book tickets button for that event. An event you saved as a draft and publish later counts as new from the day you publish it. Never someone who already has a ticket for it, and once per event. If you have more past buyers than the day's limit — or someone already had one of these emails from you that week — it carries on the following days until everyone has heard (up to the event's date — on the day itself only while the event starts at least an hour after the 10am send). Editing an event that was already on sale, or taking it off sale and putting it back on, doesn't announce it again — nobody hears about the same event twice.
- Loyalty: We miss you (members) — to a loyalty member who hasn't visited, ordered, earned or redeemed for a while (4, 6, 8, 12 or 26 weeks; 8 to start). Once until they come back.
Who gets them
Only customers who said yes to your marketing, and who haven't switched that kind of email off on their preferences page (order again and we miss you are "Come-back reminders"; the first-order thank-you is "After your visit"; what's on next is "Offers and news"). A customer gets at most one of these a week from you, whichever kind. They go out at 10am, up to 50 a day, and every one carries the unsubscribe link.
The reminder for card holders
Balance reminder emails (in Settings → Customer notifications → Gift cards, beside Balance update emails and Expiry reminder emails) — when a card with money left on it hasn't been used for a while (2, 3 or 6 months; 3 to start), the person holding it gets a short email saying how much is left and when it expires, with a See your balance link. It's a service email, not marketing, so:
- it goes to whoever holds the card — the person it was sent to, or the buyer if they bought it for themselves — whether or not they said yes to your marketing;
- it never goes to the buyer of a card given to someone else (handed over in person, or sent to someone whose details were later erased), before a scheduled one has been delivered, or when its delivery was stopped;
- it doesn't use your marketing emails — it comes from your ordinary email allowance, like your booking emails, and it's sent from your venue's Gift cards name;
- it's sent once until the card is used again, never for a card with nothing left on it, and never for a card about to expire (the expiry reminder covers those).
Its wording is fixed — what's left on the card, when it expires and a link to see the balance, in your email look (your logo, colours and footer from Branding). Offers, "come back soon" or "treat yourself" would turn it into marketing, which it can't be for people who never said yes, so Gift card — balance reminder on Settings → Email templates shows its standard wording and has no fields to change. Any wording saved for it before is no longer used.
What they cost
The four marketing ones count towards your marketing emails, like a campaign. Each paid Gift cards, Loyalty, Tickets or Order & Pay product includes 250 marketing emails a month — several products add up, to 1,000 a month — so a venue with just a product can send without buying a pack. Pro and Complete keep their own bigger allowance (the two never add together), and credit packs sit on top (see How do I buy credits or add-ons?). When your marketing emails run out, these wait until there are more.
Their look and wording
The four marketing ones are drawn in your venue's email look, like the other automatic emails, and their words are yours to change in Set up and wording, with a live preview and Send test email — the event's name and date fill themselves in, and the test email's button is the one your customers will get. The card holders' reminder is a plain letter like your other gift card emails, with the amount left and expiry date filled in; its words are fixed.
