Your domain — your web address and email
Connect the domain you already own — your address serves your venue page and your customer emails send from it.
Your domain (£7/month, or £70/year — two months free) connects the domain you already own to ResoFlow: your address serves your venue page, and your customer emails send from your domain too. It is a product on the Products page — available on any plan, or none, and it keeps working if your plan ever changes or ends.
You bring your own domain (about £10–£15/year at any registrar such as GoDaddy, 123-Reg or IONOS). ResoFlow never sells or registers domains, so you always own yours outright.
Your Setup checklist includes a Connect your domain step — it deep-links to the Your domain tab and ticks itself once your domain is live (you can also tick it by hand while DNS is still settling).
Connecting your domain
Everything happens on the Your domain tab of the Your website page (/dashboard/website — the two products are one story; the old Settings → Your domain entry now points you there). The connect walk-through shows a progress strip — Your domain → One record → We check → Live — so you always know where you are:
- Type your domain — just the address itself (like thebistro.example — a made-up address; use your own), without www. or https://.
- Paste one record where you bought your domain. The page shows you a single CNAME record — Type CNAME, Name/Host www, pointing at ResoFlow — with a copy button for each part. You add it in your provider's DNS settings (look for "DNS", "Manage DNS" or "Advanced DNS").
- We check — press "I've added it — check now", or just leave the page: we keep checking every few minutes and email you the moment it connects. DNS changes usually travel in 5–30 minutes, occasionally up to a day.
- Live — your security certificate (the padlock) is issued automatically and renews itself. Your site lives at www. your domain.
- Plain address — the page then tests your domain without the www over https and tells you what it found. Most providers have a free "website forwarding" switch that sends the bare address to the www one — choose the kind that supports https, or browsers still see a timeout. If your DNS provider allows a CNAME or ALIAS at the bare name (Cloudflare's free DNS and some others do), the Plain address (without www) card offers one optional record instead: press Add the bare-address record, paste the single line it shows (Type CNAME or ALIAS, Name @, pointing at the same ResoFlow target), and the plain address starts sending visitors to your www address by itself. If you use email on this domain and your provider says no to that record, skip it and use forwarding. You can take the record away again with Remove the bare-address record.
Moving from an existing website
If www. your domain already points at another website, the connect step stops before it changes anything and asks in words — You're replacing your current website — with two choices: Replace it — connect to ResoFlow or Keep my current website. Choosing to replace it moves nothing by itself: your old site keeps showing until you change the www record at your provider, and the address switches over to your ResoFlow site the moment that change lands. The record-check step says the same thing honestly — while www still points at the old site, the panel reads "www still points at your current website" (not a typo warning) and explains that nothing moves until you change the record.
Once live, your domain becomes your official address for search engines: your pages tell Google that your domain is their one true home, so the search value you build lands on your name. Old resoflow.co.uk links keep working and lead to the same place.
Only your venue's pages exist at your domain — your hub, booking, managing a booking, menu, events, gift cards, waitlist, customer account and website pages. Anything else typed after your address (a ResoFlow page, another venue's page) shows a page-not-found in your colours with a button back to your site, never the ResoFlow website.
After it goes live: point your other listings at it
Going live is only half of it. The address most of your customers actually reach you through is the one sitting in your Google Business Profile, your Instagram bio and your Facebook page — and none of those change when your domain does. The Now point your other listings at it card on the page (and the "your domain is live" email) gives you the address with a copy button. Three places, in the order worth doing them:
- Google Business Profile — the Website field. This is the link people get when they search your venue's name or find you on Maps, so it's the one that matters most.
- Instagram — the website link in your bio.
- Facebook — the Website field on your Page.
These are all edited on Google, Instagram and Facebook themselves — ResoFlow can't change them for you. Nothing breaks while you catch up: your old resoflow.co.uk links keep working and lead to the same place.
Your QR codes and the links on Get more bookings switch to your own address automatically once the domain is live, and each of those pages has a Use your own domain switch if you'd rather hand out the resoflow.co.uk form.
Google Maps address checks (delivery ordering) work on your domain automatically once it's live — there's nothing to set up.
Your email address
After the domain connects, the same page offers "Set up my email address". This creates a few more records to paste at your provider (the same place as the website record) — including a required DMARC row, which helps your email land in inboxes. The page shows each record's verification status and a "Check again now" button.
How sending works:
- These records don't touch your existing email. Your current inbox, and anything you already send and receive at your domain, keep working exactly as they are — the records only add a new permission for ResoFlow to send on your behalf.
- A fallback sending address. Until records verify, eligible customer emails use ResoFlow's address. If we detect verification loss or a venue-address rejection, sending falls back while you fix the records. This cannot guarantee inbox delivery; check delivery status in ResoFlow.
Once records are verified and a real reply-to inbox is set, eligible booking emails can send from your domain. The page shows Add a reply-to address if this step is missing; its Set a reply-to address button opens Settings → Communications → Customer notifications, where the Customer reply-to email is set under How your messages are sent. Replies go to that real inbox. Bills, security and account emails to you still come from ResoFlow — that's deliberate, so you always know which emails are ours.
Marketing is your choice. A brand-new sending address has no reputation yet, so large marketing sends from it are more likely to land in spam at first. Marketing therefore keeps sending from ResoFlow's established address until you switch on the acknowledgement on the same page — you can switch it back any time, and booking emails stay on your domain either way.
Troubleshooting
"The domain settings did not load"
Choose Try again to reload the current connection. A failed read does not mean the venue has no connected domain. When switching venues, the page waits for that venue’s own settings before showing its connection or actions.
"My address without www times out"
The daily health check tests your plain address (without www) over https. If it stops answering, the Plain address row on the Health card says so — "…without www doesn't answer securely — visitors typing it may see a timeout" — and you get the same line by email, once, until it changes. The two fixes are both at your domain provider: switch on website forwarding from the bare address to www (the kind that supports https), or move your DNS to Cloudflare's free plan and add the optional bare-address record from the Plain address card. Your www address keeps working throughout.
"My website stopped working"
We run a daily health check on every connected domain. If your site stops serving, the usual cause is that the www record at your provider was changed or removed — the health alert you receive says exactly this. Check your provider's DNS settings: the www record should still be a CNAME pointing at the value shown on the Your domain tab of the Your website page (the tab can show you the record again, with copy buttons). Once it's restored, the certificate re-issues automatically and your site comes back — nothing needs re-doing in ResoFlow.
"My domain expired"
Your domain's registration is held with your own provider, and renewing it is the one thing we can never do for you. If it lapses, your website and your venue-domain email stop working — but nothing is lost: your customer emails safely switch back to ResoFlow's address, and everything resumes on its own once you renew at your provider (usually a two-minute job, often set to auto-renew). We watch the renewal date in the daily health check and warn you beforehand, by email and in your dashboard bell.
"Verification has been Pending for ages"
Two common causes, both fixable at your provider:
- A small typo in the record. The checker is honest about this — if it finds a record pointing at a slightly wrong value, the page shows what we found next to what it should be. Edit the record and paste the exact value with the copy button. A classic trap: some providers add your domain to the Name box for you, so typing www.thebistro.example becomes www.www… — the Name/Host should say exactly www.
- The record was added somewhere that rewrites it. If your DNS is hosted with a provider that proxies records (for example a Cloudflare account of your own with the orange cloud switched on for the record), turn the proxying OFF for the records ResoFlow asked for — they need to be plain DNS entries for verification to see them.
If you added the record less than a day ago, it may simply still be travelling — we keep checking and email you the moment it lands.
"My emails say they're sending from resoflow.co.uk again"
This can happen while the fallback sending address is in use. If any of your email records stops verifying — most often because a record was removed or changed at your provider — eligible customer emails switch back to ResoFlow's established address when the problem is detected. Check delivery status for individual messages. The health check alerts you when this happens. Restore the records shown on the Your domain tab of the Your website page (it shows which row stopped verifying), press "Check again now", and sending flips back to your domain automatically once everything verifies.
"What happens if I cancel?"
Your domain never just goes dark. If you remove the product (or your billing lapses):
- Everything is kept for 30 days — re-adding the product restores your site and email with no set-up to redo.
- During those 30 days your domain shows a simple card with your venue's name, phone number, address and opening hours, and invites customers to book by phone — never an error page, never a dead padlock.
- Emails switch back to sending from ResoFlow's address.
- After 30 days the connection is removed and your domain is entirely back in your hands.
Deleting your ResoFlow account removes the connection straight away.
