I've received a gift card — how do I use it?

Bring your gift card's code or QR to the venue to spend it, check your balance any time on the venue's balance page, and add it to your phone's wallet.

Lucky you! Your gift card arrived by email with a code (like ABCD-EFGH-JKLM-NPQR) and a QR code — or as a physical card, or a printed certificate. They all work the same way.

Spending it — gift cards are spent at the venue: show the QR (from the email, your phone's wallet, or the printed card) or read out the code, and the team applies it to your bill. You don't have to spend it all at once — whatever's left stays on the same code for next time, and if your bill is bigger than the balance you simply pay the difference however you like. Some venues also take gift cards online: if you see a "Have a gift card?" box when paying a booking deposit or buying event tickets on the venue's page, type your code there — it can cover part or all of the payment.

Checking your balance — the email has a "Check your balance" button, which opens the venue's balance page. Type in your code and you'll see the remaining balance, the original value and the expiry date — no account or personal details needed.

Adding it to your phone — use the Add to Apple Wallet / Google Wallet buttons in your gift email, or on the balance page. The pass keeps itself up to date, so after a meal you'll see the new balance on your phone.

Expiry — the expiry date is shown on the card, the email and the balance page, and most venues send one reminder email about 30 days before it runs out (some choose not to). If a card has just expired, it's still worth asking the venue — staff can extend it.

Lost the email? — ask the venue: they can re-send your gift card. For security the re-sent email carries a fresh code and the old one stops working, so use the newest email you have.

A scheduled gift — if the buyer chose a future delivery date, the gift email arrives that morning (around 8am, the venue's local time).

One thing gift cards can't do — they're spendable only at the venue that issued them, can't be topped up, and can't be exchanged for cash.
