How do I sell gift cards?

Selling gift cards online (your public gift page, scheduled delivery, where the money goes) and at the venue from the Gift Cards page.

There are two ways to sell: online on your public gift page, and at the venue from the Gift Cards page. (Blank physical cards are a third option — see Physical gift cards.)

Selling online

Online selling is off until you turn it on: flick the online selling switch in the Gift Cards page's Selling & settings. Once it's on, your public gift page lives at your venue's /gift/... link — share it anywhere (social bios, email footers, your website). While selling is on, it's also linked from your booking page footer, and it's listed for search engines unless you've hidden your venue from search.

What the buyer does:

Where the money goes: payment is taken on your own connected Stripe account — the money lands with you directly, like event tickets. ResoFlow charges no platform fee on gift card sales (you keep 100% of the face value; Stripe's normal processing fee still applies). Online selling needs your Stripe account connected — without it the page shows a friendly "not available" note.

What gets sent: the buyer always gets a receipt. The gift email — the one carrying the spendable code, QR, Add to Apple/Google Wallet buttons, balance-check link, a print-at-home certificate and a Gift Card Terms link — goes to the recipient (or to the buyer in send-to-me mode). Gift card emails are treated as essential customer emails: on every paid plan and paid product (including the Gift Cards product itself) service emails are unlimited anyway, and even on the Free plan with no paid product they keep sending if the monthly email allowance runs out (recorded as an owed balance, like booking confirmations).

Bonus promotions: you can run a "buy £50, get £60" style promotion — set it up under Bonus promotion in the Gift Cards page's Selling & settings (a fixed amount or a percentage extra, with an optional minimum spend). While it's on, your gift page advertises the offer and the buyer pays the face amount; the card is loaded with the extra value on top. If a purchase is later refunded, unspent bonus value is withdrawn rather than paid out. Optional start and end dates let the promotion switch itself on and off (in your venue's own time, end day included) — cards bought while it was on keep their bonus.

Price discounts: the other kind of offer — set up under Price discount in the same tab, it cuts the price instead of adding value: "pay £45 for a £50 card". The buyer pays the discounted price (shown plainly on the page, the pay button and the receipt) and the card is still loaded with its full value. Refunds return what the buyer actually paid, never the full card value — the discounted part is simply withdrawn. Only one offer can run at a time: the bonus promotion and the price discount can both be set up, but their dates must not overlap.

Selling at the venue

On the Gift Cards page, staff with the issue gift cards permission use Sell a gift card:

Selling by payment link: choose Payment link as the payment method when the customer would rather pay by card on their own phone. Enter the details as usual — a buyer's or recipient's email address is required here, because the gift card is emailed once the link is paid — then click Create payment link and show the customer the QR code (or copy the link to send it yourself). The customer pays on their own phone by card, Apple Pay or Google Pay, on your connected Stripe account like an online sale. The card is only created the moment the payment lands — nothing exists until then, and if the customer walks away the link simply expires after 72 hours with nothing to tidy up. Once paid, the recipient's gift email (code, QR, wallet passes) goes out exactly as for an online sale.

Sales made at the venue have no cooling-off period (they're on-premises sales). If a customer changes their mind, the card can be voided and the venue returns the money itself — see Refunds, voids and corrections.

After the sale

Every card appears on the Gift Cards page with its balance, status and history. The buyer also appears in your Customers directory — an online purchase always creates or updates their customer profile, and a venue sale does when staff took a buyer email (an email-less cash sale stays off the list). The profile records purchase details only: it never opts the buyer into marketing unless they ticked the gift page's "Keep me posted" box, and no profile is ever created for a gift recipient. Two bell notifications (sold online / sold at the venue) can be switched on per user. Sales and redemptions also appear on the Analytics page's Gift Cards tab, and a monthly summary email can be enabled under Analytics → Reports (on venues whose plan doesn't include the analytics suite, the same card lives on the Gift Cards page's Selling & settings tab instead). Gift-card payment links — paid or still awaiting payment — are also listed in the Payment links card on Settings → Payouts & Stripe, alongside your booking links.

Statements — print and CSV: click any card and use the Print and CSV buttons beside its History for a per-card statement — when it was bought (and how), every spend, corrections, refunds and the current balance. The Summary button at the top of the page builds a venue-wide summary for a period you pick (Today, This week, This month, Last 30 days, This year, or custom dates): cards sold and redeemed in the period, refunds, value lost to expiry, and the outstanding balance on your active cards — your gift-card liability. Print it (optionally with the list of every active card and its balance) or download it as a CSV. Export CSV still downloads the full sold list. Like redemption, statements keep working on any plan.
