Can I ask my own questions when people book?
Ask up to three questions of your own when people book — a high chair, the occasion, how they heard about you.
Yes. You can ask up to three questions of your own when people book — for example "Do you need a high chair?", "What's the occasion?" or "How did you hear about us?". Each can be a tick box, a choice from your own list, or a short typed answer, and you choose whether it's asked on your booking page, when your team adds a booking, or both.
Your own booking questions are Available on Plus plan and above. They're set up in Settings → How people book, in the "Your own questions" section.
Adding a question
- Click Add a question.
- Choose the kind of answer: Tick box, Choice or Short answer.
- Write The question, and if it helps, An extra line under it.
- For a choice, fill in the Answers to choose from (two to eight) — click Add an answer for more.
- Tick Guests must answer to book online if the answer is essential (a tick box is never required — leaving it unticked means "No"). Your team is never stopped by a required question.
- Choose where it's asked: Ask on your booking page, Ask when your team adds a booking, or both.
- Save the page.
Use Move up and Move down to change the order, and Remove this question to stop asking it. You can always remove questions, even after moving to a plan without them.
What you can't ask
To keep your guests' information safe, questions about health, medical needs or disabilities can't be saved — those answers are sensitive personal data. Ask what you can do instead: "Will anyone need step-free access?" works well. The same goes for religion, ethnicity, sexuality, politics, union membership or criminal records, and you should never ask for card numbers or passwords.
Allergies and dietary needs already have their own box on every booking, so the page warns you if a question asks about them again.
Where the answers appear
Answers are saved with the booking, with the question's words as they were when the guest booked — so rewording a question later doesn't change what an old answer meant. Your team sees them in the booking's details, on the printed day sheet and in its CSV, in the Bookings list's CSV and on a pre-order's kitchen docket — each as the question and its answer, for example "Do you need a high chair? Yes". Answers are kept and deleted with the booking, exactly like its notes, and they are never shown on a public page.
