Switch from OpenTable

Considering OpenTable? See both sides.

OpenTable pairs a booking system with a diner marketplace — and charges a cover fee for each seated diner its network sends you. ResoFlow takes the other road: no marketplace, no per-cover fees, flat published prices from free to £129/month. Here's an honest comparison — including when OpenTable might suit you better.

*OpenTable doesn't publish its plan prices or its per-cover rate — its UK plans page says "Contact us for pricing" (the one price it publishes is a Premium SMS add-on at £19/month). The approximate figures are as reported by third-party restaurant-industry guides, checked July 2026 — estimates, not OpenTable's own, so always confirm directly. Un-starred OpenTable details are from opentable.co.uk's own restaurant plans pages, checked July 2026: its FAQ says cover fees apply only to diners who discover you through OpenTable's website, app or affiliate network, that only seated diners are charged, and that the standard contract is one year and auto-renews annually. Features and pricing change; always confirm current terms with OpenTable directly. On the ResoFlow side: you keep 100% of your deposits and there's no platform fee on gift card sales — your venue keeps 100% of the face value; a fee of 2.9% + 50p applies per paid event ticket (your venue absorbs it by default). ResoFlow is not affiliated with OpenTable.

Why ResoFlow

Flat pricing, and the relationship stays yours.

A cost that stays flat on your busiest month

Per-cover fees scale with your success — a full December costs more than a quiet January. ResoFlow is the same flat published price all year (free to £129/month), so a great month is simply a great month. Our commission calculator shows what your own numbers come to.

The toolkit in your plan

Gift cards, ticketed events, money-off promotions and a loyalty programme are part of your plan on Pro and above — and gift cards, tickets and loyalty are also available on their own, from £25/month. (ResoFlow's own optional extras are honest and small: credit top-ups for SMS and email, and extra image storage.)

Your guests book with you, not through a middleman

Bookings come through your own website, links and profiles, so the relationship — and the data — is yours. Guest profiles, visit history, allergies and preferences live in your own dashboard, hosted in the EU, covered by UK GDPR, and never sold or shared.

The honest bit

When OpenTable might suit you better.

You want diners who don't know you yet

OpenTable's core value is its marketplace — its website, app and affiliate network put your restaurant in front of diners searching for somewhere to eat. ResoFlow has no diner marketplace; guests find you through your own website, Google profile and social links.

You want Reserve with Google

OpenTable venues can take bookings directly from Google Search and Maps through Reserve with Google. ResoFlow doesn't offer that — instead it walks you through pointing your Google Business Profile's booking link at your ResoFlow page.

You need POS integration

OpenTable's plans list POS integration and 100+ booking integrations. ResoFlow doesn't offer those integrations today — bookings, payments and reports live in ResoFlow itself.

You want advertising inside the platform

OpenTable offers digital advertising and ad tracking to promote your restaurant to its diner network. ResoFlow has nothing equivalent — its marketing tools work your own guest list (email, SMS, offers and loyalty), not a marketplace audience.

If most of your bookings come from diners discovering you on OpenTable, its cover fees may be money well spent — we'd rather you choose the right tool. If most of your bookings already come through your own website and Google profile, you may be paying discovery prices for guests who were coming anyway. Run your numbers through the calculator and decide with evidence.

The switch

Move from OpenTable in three steps.

  1. 1

    Export your data from OpenTable

Your guest book is your data. Export your guest list and reservation history from OpenTable as CSV files — or ask their support team for an export if you can't find one in your reports. Check your contract's renewal date at the same time: the standard OpenTable contract auto-renews annually with 30 days' notice.

  2. 2

    Import it into ResoFlow

Open Settings → Data import in your ResoFlow dashboard and upload each CSV. The wizard matches your columns to ResoFlow fields, shows a preview before anything is written, and imports up to 500 rows per file. Customers with a matching email are merged, never duplicated.

  3. 3

Point your channels at your new booking link

Your public booking page is live the moment setup is complete. Put the link on your website, social profiles and Google Business Profile — or embed the booking widget directly on your site. Many venues run OpenTable alongside for a while to keep its marketplace diners during the transition, then decide with real numbers.

CSV import is included on Plus (£39/month) and above, and with any paid ResoFlow product. Full walkthrough in our data import guide.

FAQ

OpenTable vs ResoFlow, answered.

The biggest difference is the model. OpenTable runs a diner marketplace — its website, app and affiliate network send you diners, and on its Core and Pro plans you pay a cover fee for each seated diner who found you that way (bookings from your own website are free, as at July 2026). ResoFlow has no marketplace and no per-cover fees at all: guests book through your own website, links and profiles, and you pay one flat published price — free to £129/month.
OpenTable doesn't publish its plan prices — its UK plans page lists Core and Pro tiers with "Contact us for pricing" (the one price it does publish is a Premium SMS add-on at £19/month, as at July 2026). Third-party guides commonly report subscriptions around £112–£299 a month plus roughly £2 for each seated diner booked through OpenTable's network — treat both as estimates, not OpenTable's own figures. Its FAQ also notes the standard contract is one year and auto-renews annually. Always confirm current pricing with OpenTable directly.
Plans are flat-rate and published: Free is free forever, Plus is £39/month, Pro is £79/month and Complete is £129/month, with two months free if you pay annually. Every paid plan comes with a 14-day money-back guarantee. There are no per-cover fees and no annual contracts — cancel any time from your dashboard.
Honestly: you lose OpenTable's marketplace, and if a meaningful share of your bookings comes from diners discovering you on OpenTable's website and app, that's worth weighing seriously before you move (our commission calculator helps you put a number on what those covers cost). Many venues run both during a transition — keep OpenTable for discovery while your own website, Google profile and social links point at your ResoFlow page, then decide with real numbers.
Yes. Export your guest book and reservation history from OpenTable as CSV files, then use ResoFlow's import wizard at Settings → Data import. It matches your CSV's columns to ResoFlow fields, previews everything before anything is written, and handles up to 500 rows per file. Customers with a matching email are merged, never duplicated. CSV import is included on Plus (£39/month) and above, and with any paid ResoFlow product.
On Pro (£79/month) and Complete (£129/month) they're plan features — and gift cards, tickets and loyalty can also be bought on their own, from £25/month, if you only want one piece. There's no platform fee on gift card sales — your venue keeps 100% of the face value, and a fee of 2.9% + 50p applies per paid event ticket (your venue absorbs it by default). ResoFlow does have optional paid extras of its own — SMS, email and marketing credit top-ups, and extra image storage — named here so "in the plan" stays honest.
